Joining the CODA Educator Team

Partnering with CODA as a CODA Certified Educator is an opportunity for youth addiction experts who share the CODA philosophy that it takes local resources and solutions to combat local issues. CCE’s are professionals who have an interest and passion to prevent drug abuse in their communities. We are looking for candidates who meet the requirements.The CCE training program provides professional development education, training and certification in youth substance abuse prevention. There are three phases that need to be completed before CODA will consider contracting your services.

Phase One: online training modules

  • Module #1 - The Council on Drug Abuse
  • Module #2 - Drugs and Youth
  • Module #3 - Cannabis
  • Module #4 - Cocaine
  • Module #5 - Methamphetamines (Crystal Meth)
  • Module #6 - Dextromethorphan
  • Module #7 - MDMA (Ecstasy)
  • Module #8 - GHB
  • Module #9 - Heroin
  • Module #10 - Inhalants
  • Module #11 - Datura Stramonium
  • Module #12 - Ketamine
  • Module #13 - LSD
  • Module #14 - PCP
  • Module #15 - Prescription Opioids (Pain Killers)
  • Module #16 - Prescription Depressants
  • Module #17 - Prescription Stimulants
  • Module #18 - Psilocybin (mushrooms)
  • Module #19 - Rohypnol
  • Module #20 - Salvia Divinorum
  • Module #21 - Steroids
  • Module #22 - Engaging Youth

- Taken at your leisure-within 1 year
- Each followed by practice quiz (untimed)
- Ending with a qualification multiple choice exam over 2h period

Phase Two: interactive 1-day training module

  • By invitation, upon successful completion of online education modules
  • In each of Toronto, Calgary, Halifax, Montreal
  • November 2009 and April 2010
  • Full day of on-site interactive training seminars, workshops and discussion groups

- Youth engagement
- CODA program delivery methods

Phase Three: final interview

  • Upon successful completion of online training education and onsite training day attendance and performance
  • Candidates will be selected for final interview with CODA staff
  • Successful candidates will be certified and contracted as CODA trained substance abuse prevention Educators
